When I heard in my spirit, “Take every thought captive,” I said, “Lord , we have billions of thoughts every minute, how can I do this?” I struggle every day. When we pray God answers! Praying Psalm 19:14 can bring this struggle to the front.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your site, O Lord my strength and my Redeemer.
It is kind of like the saying that if we pray for patience God will give us a lot of trials to teach us patience. I am thankful for this conviction for the words we speak have consequences either for good or for bad. There is another old saying that says, “If you don’t have anything good to say don’t say anything at all.” This is not always true because a trusted friend who quietly corrects can be a true asset.
Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Proverbs 25:11-12 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.
Are our words spoken from a heart of love? Do we speak before we know the truth of the matter?

A true friend keeps their friend’s confidence. Are we safe friends?
Psalm 141:3-5 Set a guard, O Lord over my mouth; keep watch over the door to my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; and do not let me eat of their delicacies. Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness.
