Words Matter:

Words Matter:

John 1:1-3  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made.

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.

Often we use our words to hurt others for things that they have done or said to us that hurt us. Also we often don’t like to be corrected. There are those that have a wonderful gift that they can correct you with love and it feels like a blessing. I am praying for that gift. Words can build walls or tear them down. I was told when some one says some thing to me that hurts or corrects I build a wall. Well this morning the Lord began to show me some thing about this. The brick gets laid when some one uses their words to hurt. You get that? The one throwing the cruel words is the on laying the brick. Now I / we can do one of two things: 1 We can let the bricks begin to stack up and build a wall or 2 we can write forgiven on that brick and let it dissolve in God’s hands. Yes number 2 is hard! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Think about what Jesus went through. Those who should have known Him rejected Him.

Jesus gave us this parable:

Luke 15:11-24  A certain man had two sons. 12 and the younger of them said to his father, father give me the portion of goods that falls to me. So he divided to them his livelihood. 13 and not many days after, the younger son gathered all together journeyed to a far country and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. 14 but when he had spent all there arose a severe famine in that land and he began to be in want. 15 then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him to the fields to feed swine. 16) and he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him any thing. 17 but when he came to himself, he said, how many of my fathers hired servants have enough bread and to spare and I perish with hunger! 18  I will arise and go to my father and say to him, father I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants. 20 and he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion and ran to him and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 and the son said to him father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight and am no longer worthy to be called your son. 22 But the father said to his servants, bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 and bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry. 24  for this my son was dead and is alive again: he was lost and is found and they began to be merry.

How many times do we sin against God and still when we cry out to Him, He welcomes us home into His loving arms.

Jesus teaching is about loving all people, Jesus taught us to love our enemies in Matthew 5:43-45, Jesus teaches us to love our brothers in John 13:34 and in John 2:10.

Let Love Win by Carrollton was the song God was playing in my head this morning.

So today we can choose not to lay any bricks and we can choose to write forgiveness on those that are thrown at us.
Lord we thank you for your perfect Word which You sent to us in Your perfect Son. Lord this day we ask You to forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lord we ask that you open our eyes to see things as they are and then apply love and compassion. Jesus You gave us Your love and compassion in a way no one can do or repay. Let Your sacrifice humble us in how we treat others. Lord You alone are worthy to be praised. Lord You are great and greatly to be praised for You alone are holy and Your greatness is unsearchable. You alone know us inside out. This I know  You can teach each of us Your way. So we ask Your help in being Christ like in our behavior toward all people.
In Jesus precious name we pray Amen

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
