Recorders:

Throughout history there are those gifted and given the task of recording the history of every nation. It was and is a sacred job and gift. There may be some who want it rewritten to suit themselves; yet history does not change. With historical writings God made a way to save the Jewish people from slavery, from genocide and to bring them back to Him time and again. We do understand that God told them the consequences for not obeying His commandments and we have suffered consequences and still suffer consequences. We are wayward sheep going after the shiny words sometimes of lies and sometimes the own lust of our hearts, and minds. You will know them by their fruit.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he won’t depart from it.

This doesn’t mean we will never stray; we are wayward sinners. If we are diligent to teach our children the truth of God’s word when they are young it stays with them throughout their lives even if they stray from it into the lusts of the world. They will remember.

Deuteronomy 4:7-9 Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Many times God’s people turned and did what was evil following others around them. God still called them back to Himself and to His glory He promised to write His word on our hearts.

Jeremiah 31:33-34 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother saying, ‘know the Lord,’ for they shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.

The laws of our land are so similar to the 10 commandments. We are given the written word of God; history, guidance, direction, hope, and truth. It is not to pick and choose what suits the situation we want to create or to justify our actions but to train us up in the way we should walk in Jesus way, and truth to life.
