When God brought the Hebrew people out of Egypt He gave them commandments to follow. God gave them specific instruction as examples of how to keep these commandments. God gave the Hebrews a long list of blessings if they kept God’s commandments. In keeping God’s commandments there is life and peace. God then gave them a long list of curses or consequences if they did not keep His commandments. Over time God’s people have had great blessings and great consequences. God is faithful! God is merciful! The last chapter of Revelation gives a blessing and a curse / warning. Are we listening? Will we listen?
Revelation 22:13-14 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter through the gates into the city.
WARNING: Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify to EVERYONE who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if ANYONE adds to the prophecy of these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if ANYONE takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away HIS part from the Book of Life, from the Holy city, and from the things which are written in the book.
God is love! All God’s commandments point us towards loving and caring for others. Has our love grown cold? Have we become desensitized to evil and violence from the shows we watch? Does it bother us to see the violence committed to others? God is merciful.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Jesus way is the way, the truth, and the life. Love one another as Jesus has loved you.
