We know from God’s Word that God himself gave man the wisdom and understanding to write down history so the generations who would come after them would know God is God of ALL creation. God called the Israelites to be his chosen people not to become prideful and decide they were a superior race but to walk in all God’s ways that others may know Him. Pride goes before a fall.
John 1:4 In the beginning was the word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. ALL things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
This tells us clearly that everything, all of creation was made by, created by, brought into existence by God! Who are we to hate what God has made, whom God has made? Hate and prejudice is a disease of the mind and the heart. Before God sent His Son Jesus that we may be saved through His love for all mankind the priests would put their hands on on a goats head recite the sins of the people and send them out into the desert. Humans still want a scapegoat, someone to blame for whatever is wrong. Taking responsibility for our actions means we would need to change.
Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Amos was not a prophet but God called him to warn His people. This Amos reminds me of three strikes you’re out because each warning starts with: “For three transgressions of (the name of the city) and for four I will not turn away its punishment.” All of these recordings should serve as warnings for us today. There is nothing new under the sun. Will we heed God’s warnings that still hold true today?
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servant the prophets.
We have all the warnings, we have all the consequences the people suffered for not heeding the warnings. There is nothing new under the sun. Will we remain a stiff-necked people?
Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
Are we listening? Will we listen?
Proverbs 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Choose this day whom you will follow.
