Heavenly Father-Earthly Father:

Jesus taught that we must be converted and become as little children to enter the kingdom of heaven. Our Heavenly Father is a perfect example for earthly fathers. God teaches us right from wrong, gives us rules and boundaries, and watches over us as we grow. A good earthly father does the same. As a child grows they begin to test the boundaries and the rules. God our Heavenly Father always has a watchful eye on His children where an earthly father can’t be in every place watching the child. God allows His children to make mistakes and suffer the consequences but our Heavenly Father is always ready to welcome us home when we return for forgiveness. God will comfort, teach us how to correct our mistakes and His children learn and grow. If a child has a good earthly father then the child is blessed with double the love. The child has a visible example of Jesus love.

Matthew 18:2-5 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the mist of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.”

We know children’s attention span can be short and they run from one shiny object to another. Sometimes it seems that doesn’t change as we learn and grow into what the world calls adulthood. As adults we can flit from one shiny object to another, one belief to another that may suit our current desires. As Jesus said, “We are all like wayward sheep.” Thankfully we are always God’s children and when we fail, fall down, and come running back He opens His loving arms, comforts, forgives, and sets us again on His paths of righteousness.

Matthew 18:11-14 For the Son of Man has come to save that which is lost. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that one sheep than the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of the Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish.

We have a Heavenly Father that knows everything about each of us at all times right down to the number of hairs. Will we talk to, consult our Heavenly Father? Will we listen? Isn’t it wonderful to be loved by the One who knows each of us perfectly? Nothing is or can it be hidden from our Heavenly Father.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
